The Bible teaches that God is consistent. We can rely on his character because it is a constant. James 1:17 says, “Every good an perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” I love that image, and I thought it would be fun to expose my kids to that verse, the character of God and the nature of shadows today. I took hourly pictures of the shadows in the afternoon. I was able to show my kids how shadows shift and change throughout the day. I had them try and figure out why shadows move and change. They got it, and we were able to talk about the earth’s rotation. We even watched this short YouTube video about the rotation:
I don’t know what all those words mean, but it’s a good graphic.
Isn’t it comforting to know that God doesn’t change like the shifting shadows? We should aim to be so consistent. Not boring or un-spontaneous, but consistent.

Consistency
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadiest, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” – 2 Corinthians 15:58

What a lovely post and a fabulous application for your kids! Thanks for sharing! God bless
