Day #275 – Have them Help with Special Projects

Picking up toys is something your kids are used to doing. It’s mundane. It’s often boring to them. It’s a chore. I try and make things exciting, but sometimes I’m not doing my job well and sometimes they are being more difficult. I do find that when I’m on top of my own excitement, energy and motivation, they follow along suit. All that said, my point today is to get them involved in special projects on your “to do” list. I have been wanting to organize my cupboards for a while, but I can’t seem to find the time. I have been neglecting to see the time because I forgot to involve my kids. Some “meaningful mama” I am. When Abby left for school, Corban was still in bed. I asked Kenzie if she wanted to help with a special project, and she was excited. She remained excited the entire time helping. She wanted to organize and clean out. I put her in charge of pulling everything out of the cupboards, dust busting and helping to put things back. Although I buy more natural products, I still am most comfortable doing the spray cleaning. We were able to get it all done before Corban woke up, and Kenzie had a lot of fun. I got something checked off my “to do” list. Why haven’t I done this before? Here’s the before and after:
