I’m sneaking another kitchen tip into my parenting tip. It’s in our mommy job description, right? I have always had a hard time when a recipe says to roll out a dough to a certain thickness. I don’t know why I have a hard time visualizing it. I try and get out my rulers, but they don’t go all the way to the start of the ruler. Today I came up with a simple solution as I was rolling out my gingerbread cookies. I measured 1/8 inch on my toothpick and marked it with a thin sharpie. Then, I could poke it in the dough to see if I had the right height. I am glad I did because I was too often rolling my dough to thick. This ended up being a great, quick guide which resulted in more even and better cookies.
