Today we took my friend, Michelle, out for an appreciation dinner. You can do this with anyone in your lives. We are currently in San Diego. My husband has a work conference down here, and my closest childhood friend lives here. She really wanted us to come and visit, and she also gave us an offer we couldn’t refuse. My husband and I are staying in his hotel room (paid by his company). My 3 children are staying with Michelle. She absolutely loves kids and is so good with them. It is such a blessing for us too. I hear of those moms who just can’t stand being away from their kids for a moment. Is is horrible of me to say I’m not one of them. Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids. However, I love my husband too and cherish the time we have for just the two of us. We had companion passes on the plane, and Michelle got us a great deal on a car as well as free passes to Sea World. She has blessed us so much on this trip. It was kind of a no-brainer to come. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate Michelle. She is thoughtful and giving. She has put a lot of thought and care into our arrival, including worrying about the right kinds of food to have on the hand for the kids as well as preparing with sunscreen, bottled waters, and any number of other things. She has put a lot of thought into what we could do while we were here and made sure I was having my own vacation time too. We wanted to let her know how much we appreciated all she is and has done for us. So, we made sure to take her out a special dinner where we all talked about what we appreciate about her. We also made sure to give her a gift. I would encourage you to make a special appreciation dinner where you can honor someone in your lives too. If I were home, we probably would have made cards and found extra ways to make everything super special for this person. I couldn’t be as creative here, but we were still able to take time to honor someone we love.
