Day #260 Tip – Your Kids Aren’t the Center of the Universe

You all know by know that I believe in investing in and caring about kids. However, I believe it is also healthy to let kids know they aren’t the center of the universe. Yes, they are one of the most important things in our lives, and they are often treated in that way. That said, they can’t think the world stops when they need something or want to say something. There is often an attitude in our society that the world owes them something. We want to stop that attitude by teaching our children to learn to be the ones trying to figure out what they can give to the world rather than constantly fighting to have it be about their needs, while neglecting everyone around them. Kids want it all to be about me, me, me…hey, often we all do. They want you to stop whatever you are doing or interrupt whoever you are talking to so you can acknowledge everything thing they have to say. They need to learn to wait patiently. They need to learn to be considerate of others. They need to learn that they are not the center of the universe. I have advice on teaching kids how to interrupt in a polite way.
