I have had seasons of having reminders in the environment that help me to remember to pray for certain things. When I was a teacher, I would pray for my students when I would see a school bus. I might pray for my community when I see a public bus. I might pray for people I know that are sick if I see an ambulance. I might pray for my family every time I see a yellow flower. Just simple visual reminders to keep my prayer life going. As I was leaving the school today, admittedly with tears in my eyes, I prayed for my girl. One of the things I seemed to focus on was the friendships she would make. Who your children choose as friends can be so influential in their future. I prayed she would make friends who would build her up and that she could encourage. I prayed for friends who make good choices. I pray for friends who we can positively impact as well. I have decided to make the drop off process a time of prayer about these friendships. It is my visual clue to remind me to pray for this important component of my child’s growth.
