Day #247 Tip – Teach Creative Solutions

Kids will learn from you. They watch what you do. Teach them to think outside of the box. Yes, this requires you to think outside the box. Above you see a solution we came up with for spilled crayons. It was easier to scoop them onto a pan and dump them into the crayon bin than pick them up individually. I encouraged Abby to help come up with a solution, and she really did a good job trying to think through our situation. Like everything, this takes time to teach and be creative. It has been very rewarding to watch the kids start to come up with creative solutions on their own since we have been working on this with them. I love to watch their little minds churning. You can even be intentional by coming up with scenarios for them to think through and find answers to. Trying to give them lots of opportunities to experiment with their own ideas in problems solving will help grow their minds.
