I’m about to give a really bad tip. Are you ready for it? Don’t say you weren’t warned. It’s awful. Confine them to a room until it’s clean. This is one of my strategies. The big secret is, it doesn’t get cleaned….at least in my world. Well, eventually it get cleaned, but it takes forever. What good does this do? It allows you to get all the other things that you need to get done, done. Every once in a while I will say, “You can’t come out of your room until it’s clean.” Then, I get the day with just me and my little man. It eliminates a battle for me. It helps them learn responsibility for their own messes. It gives me a bit of time. Hey, maybe it’s not such horrible advice after all. The above picture was taken of Abby confined to the living room until it was picked up. Kenzie was just playing in the mess while Abby snoozed.
