Day #226 – Ask the Right Questions

Recently we have been dealing with some issues of the girls lying to try and get the other one in trouble. We have a strategy about holding hands until one tells the truth. Another way to combat it quickly is by asking the right questions. Instead of saying, “Did you…?” You can say, “Why did you…?” They’ll wise up eventually, but for right now, it’s working. You’ll have to get trickier as they get older, but I think asking the right questions is important no matter what the age. For teenagers, asking a yes or no question may not lead to much discussion or insight. Think like a reporter and ask questions that make someone provide something more than a one word answer. Be clever to really get them to share or tell the truth.
