Day #220 Tip – Give Yourself a Break

Ever have days that just feel harder? You may be hormonal, tired, lazy…any number of things. Congratulations! You are human. I can’t imagine every day is smooth. I think we all have those people we put up on a pedestal thinking they probably never struggle with the things we do as individuals. They must always be patient with their kids. They must always respond the right way. They must always have a warm meal on the table as their husband walks through the door. I would say, “You’re probably not right.” We all have “those” days. You know the ones. We might fight agains them and try to have fewer of them in our lives. That’s a good thing. However, sometimes, you need to give yourself a break. Just realize that you are not perfect. Your kids aren’t perfect. Your husband isn’t perfect. You know those people you put on the pedestal? They’re not perfect either. So, try to make those really hard days easier for you. I really try and limit screen time around here. However, I may try to lighten up on that concept when we are just having “one of those days.” I may ask my husband to pick up something from a restaurant on the way home or throw some pre-packaged meal from the freezer into the oven. Maybe even that’s too much, and we have cereal for dinner. The kids may not get a bath. The house may be a mess. However, I think it’s healthy to just allow yourself those days every once in a while. Realize that you can’t do it all. Realize it’s not even healthy to try. Lighten up on yourself. We’re definitely our own worst critics. Perfection is nothing we are called to in this life. Rather, we are called to recognize our own weaknesses and call on the Lord for the strength needed in all we do. Even He rested on the seventh day.
