You have rules established for the kids under your roof. Keep those standards even when your kids have friends over. Lovingly say to friends, “Oh, I’m sorry. We don’t talk like that in our home.” Definitely make sure your children’s friends are treating your other children with respect. “You need to make sure to be kind to Kenzie too. If you need me to help you with her, please ask, but we treat people here with respect.” Kids are looking for guidelines, structure and discipline, whether they think they want it or not. Hopefully, you have a house that is fun and that you are an approachable person who other kids enjoy being around. They will not shudder so much at your re-direction if you have a warm, welcoming environment. You will have rules set up, and it’s healthy to maintain your household standards at all times, not wavering or being influenced by who may be a guest in your home at the time.

Love this! You are great.
