Day #209 Tip – What Starts as a Responsibility Becomes a Habit

As a parent, we are always training. It seems to repetitive. You catch yourself saying the same things over and over and over again. You may question, when is this going to sink in? Have faith. You can create habits in kids. Hopefully, you are aiming to create good habits. There may need to be a running back upstairs a number of times throughout the day because they haven’t turned their lights off. However, the more you are willing to train it in them the more of a habit it will become. The intense work you are doing now will pay off later. They may see it is a chore now, but when it becomes a habit it is just second nature and doesn’t feel like a burden. This relates to everything from the way we treat people, the way we respond to struggles, the way we keep things clean or the way we respond to temptations. Train them well enough as early as possible to make it a natural response in life. This might come across in real life situations, but you may want to be intentional in playing some things out through role playing. Keep your eyes out for bad habits that need to stop as well as good habits that need to be taught or encouraged.
