Today I read a book they had never heard before to my kids. I would read one page at a time and then I would ask questions. It’s a good idea to ask kids about what they are reading anyway to work on reading comprehension. However, today we were super intentional about it, and I really asked them about the fine details. Activities like this work on attentiveness and having them really learn to listen. I also find that my 3 year old is quiet squirmy during stories, so I really emphasized having the girls sitting still and showing me they were listening by having control over their bodies and actions.
