Day #185 – Ice Cream Party Printables and Inexpensive Party Planning Ideas

I hope you stopped by yesterday for our Ice Cream Party post. We had a great time, and I wanted to provide you with some of the tools and printables so you can have a lot of fun with your next party.

Ice Cream Cone Party Hat Printable – also used for the Ice Cream Cone Balloons

My amazing husband has mad computer skills and gets credit for most the the technical side of my blog. He created this ice cream cone printable for your use for the hats and the balloon cones.

Place Card or Label Card Printable for Ice Cream Birthday Party

I gave him a picture of the invitations, and he modified it to make you a printable so that you can make your own cards to put in front of toppings.

Here are a few other inexpensive ideas to make a memorable birthday party:

Sew Thrift Store Sheets Together to Make a Back Drop

I found three sheets for $3.99 each. That makes this a $12 backdrop. I cut them into 12 inch strips, and I sewed them together. It wasn’t hard at all…trust me, my sewing skills are minimal. You have yourself a wonderful backdrop for any theme if you can find the right sheets. Don’t want to sew? You could also use plastic table cloths from the dollar store like we did for our rainbow birthday party.

Make Your Own Pin the Tail on the… Game

It’s easy to make your own “pin the tail on the…” game for any theme. Pin the soccer ball on the goal. Pin the symbol on the super hero cape. Pin the crown on the princess. The ideas are endless.

Modify Games You Already Have

A couple of years ago my husband made us a corn hole game. Corn Hole is basically a bean bag toss game for all ages. I modified this for the party. All I did was wrap it in dollar store wrapping paper. Then I cut the cone and ice cream out of paper and taped it down. Kids of all ages loved this game at the party. Yesterday my daughter stuck her face through the hole, and I wish I had thought of this for the party. It would have been a cute keepsake for the kids. You can modify games you already have like ring tosses, horse shoes or even t ball. Just takes a bit of imagination to modify it for whatever theme you have chosen.

Buy Inexpensive Game Prizes
The dollar store is always a good option. However, don’t get fooled. Sometimes you can get things less expensive elsewhere and of a higher quality. For example, these bubble ice cream cones were found at Target for $3 for all four, making them less than a dollar store prize.

Make Your Guest Party Gifts Part of the Party & Oriental Trading Company
We incorporated our give away gifts as part of the party. The kids had an ice cream fight with their ice cream cone shooters. They could use their little bowls for the ice cream and then take them home when they left. Utilizing the gifts cuts down on costs. Oriental Trading Company is an inexpensive solution for party gifts. You’d think I was getting royalties from them or something. I’m not, but they have so many options for all different themes. I’ve been really satisfied with what you can get for the price.
