When I talk about your first fruits, I’m thinking about your energy and time. What do you donate that energy toward? I always need reminders of where these first fruits should go. I definitely want to keep God first and my husband second. When it comes to parenting, I want to keep my priorities in order. I know as a mom we have a never ending “to-do” list running through our brains. Sometimes the dishes, laundry, cleaning or bill paying takes the priority. We have all that stuff we need to do. However, I find that if I give my parenting first fruits to my kids, we all end up more satisfied, and I can actually get more done. When I focus on the kids first, their tank gets filled up, and they are much more likely to play independently. However, if my to-do list takes precedence, then they’re at my heels wanting my attention. It’s not just about pacifying them so I can get my stuff done. It is, however, a shift of focus which has that added bonus of making your children more content throughout the day. Really try and play and enjoy them during this time. Keep all of your chores and all of the other things you have tugging at you someplace else. It might even help to make a list so that you can let it go for a bit while you play.
