You have a lot of control over the atmosphere in your home. I know that last week I wasn’t a very good thermostat. I was not responding well to things, and I was grumpy. I was wondering what came first, the chicken or the egg? Are my kids off because I’m off, or am I off because they are off? However it happened, I know that my response didn’t help anything. I lost control of the atmosphere with the kids and thing spiral poorly from there. How you engage with your kids is always up to you. If you stay calm and respond with an even keeled nature and sense of humor, your children can’t play on your emotions. I was trained as a camp counselor to always show enthusiasm for everything we were doing. It would rub off on our campers. The camp counselors who stood on the side and didn’t engage have kids would wouldn’t want to engage. If you create a positive atmosphere and get excited about things in your home, your children can catch that bug. The opposite is also true. You have a lot of control ever the temperature in your home. Realize that and respond accordingly.

Amen & Amen! So so true.
I’m working on it.
such a good point. i need to remember this…. i was a camp counselor too. what a different person i was then than i am now. i think i need to get some of that camp spirit back
thanks for the inspiration.
I laughed out loud when I read this. Man 15 years ago made a bit of difference in the spirit level, huh? Constantly working on getting it back. We have a lot of fun times around here – inspired from some of my camp days.
