There’s a reason why we try and have so much fun with our kids…relationship. We want our relationship with our kids to be strong so that our rules are grounded in their trust in us and their safety in knowing how loved they are. As it is with everything in parenting, this perfectly reflects our relationship with God. Following God’s “rules” without truly knowing God and having a relationship with Him is completely void. We want our kids to be so grounded in our relationship – through the constant love, communication, consistency and comfort, that the rules begin to make sense to them. If it is all about the rules, the rebellion may be right around the corner.
