Day #146 Wisdom in Proverbs – Character Development, Week #21

Wisdom
“For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
“Proverbs 2:6

I wanted to present to the kids that the best pieces of wisdom they can find are going to be found in the Bible. When thinking of wisdom in the Bible, Proverbs definitely is the first book to come to mind. A fun way for us to get to open the Word today was to do hidden messages. We have done them before in our hidden message Valentine.I felt like it would make it special to have the verses feel like a treasure since they were discovered in such a fun way. I wrote the address to the verses from Proverbs down in white crayon.  Then, the girls would paint over in water color to show the hidden verse. When the verse was revealed, we’d look up the wise advice from the Word of God. Here are the Proverbs I included:
* Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
* Proverbs 4:1 “Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.”
* Proverbs  25:28 “Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.”
* Proverbs 15:20 “A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish man despises his mother.”
These verses took a little explanation, but they listened well and had fun in the process to discover the verses.
