Day #129 Tip – Model It

This is one of the most important tips I can think of, so maybe I should have done it sooner.  I’m sure you’ve heard it a thousand ways and from a thousand different angles.  Good.  It’s such an important concept, and I know I need constant reminders.  I know that when I’m being impatient, dramatic, sarcastic or any of my many other flaws, I’m passing it on to my kids.  I hear them constantly repeating me.  It’s funny when I hear one of my kids get on their own mother voice and repeat phrases to the littler ones.  It’s funny as long as it’s not yelling.  Then, I have to examine myself.  If you want your kids to love the Lord, let them see how much you do and how it spills out in your own life.  If you want your kids to be positive and not complain, check yourself.  If you are wondering why they just can’t grasp saying “please” or “thank you,” spend a little time reflecting on how you speak to others – especially your spouse.  Model it.  It will have the greatest impact on your children – good or bad.  You decide.
