Day #128 Tip – Make it Easy on the Person in Charge

This is one that I’ve mentioned briefly in another post, but I wanted to expand on it a bit now.  This is one of our “clutch phrases” we use with our kids.  We want to have our kids make life easier for people.  So, before we leave them with a babysitter or take them into a situation where someone else is in charge, we discuss ways to make things simple for people.  We talk about saying “yes” when they’re ask to do something.  We talk about how to be helpful and polite.  How we treat our siblings is also discussed.  When my husband and I went away to Hawaii, this didn’t go off as well.  However, we left them with grandma tonight and got good reports, and we often get good reports from church or other people who interact with our kids.  It’s definitely a work in progress.  We’re working on it here.  I want other people to enjoy my kids and part of that is instilling in them how important it is to make life easier for other people.
