Day #123 Diligent Beavers – Character Development, Week #18

Diligence
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.
 - Colossians  3:23
Today we looked at the animal kingdom for inspiration. First I showed them the sloth on Wikipedia.  I highlighted some of the behaviors saying that the sloth mostly sits around sleeping, eating and moving slow.  I also showed a Sloth YouTube video

Next, I asked the girls if a sloth was diligence.  Abigail concluded that it was.  I inquired as to why, and she said, “It’s diligent and eating and sleeping.” Guess she had me on that one.
The next thing we decided to look at was the beaver.   We also watched a video on the beaver. The embedding was disabled on this video, so you’ll have to click through.  I learned so much about the beaver, and there was no doubt to any of us about their diligence.  After that, we spent some time making beaver masks.  We painted paper plates brown, cut out circles for the eyes, cut black construction paper for a nose and then cut out the beaver teeth.
