· I know that one thing we are lacking is time. It’s hard to spend one on one time with your kids…especially with bigger families. However, I do think it’s important to develop a unique relationship with each of your kids. Their personality comes out more as you get some time alone with them. It develops the bond between the two of you more as you pour into them individually. By choosing time alone with them, you are telling them how important they are to you and honoring them in a wonderful way. It will build up their self confidence while giving you a more intimate knowledge of the way they think and what they enjoy. They will have a bit of time where they are the focus. You can choose to do things that are simple and unique to their own personality. For some kids it might be a trip to the book or pet store. For others, they’ll love a walk or time at the park. For some, it might be getting a meal or some hot chocolate at Starbucks together. Take that time, make it distraction free, and you will experience growth in your friendship.

Great tip! We too try to do this in our family too! It is so fun to see the difference in them when it is one on one time. This week as we adjust to our newest blessing I am trying to read the nighttime books to my big boys while the Daddy holds our sweet baby. This is helping me still feel more connected to my older boys.
