Day #120 – Diligence Word Ring – Week #18

Diligence
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.
 - Colossians  3:23

Definition:  1. Investing all my energy to complete the task assigned to me 2. Steady application of effort to accomplish a task 3. Exerting oneself to fulfill what is undertaken without unnecessary delay 4. Acting with great care and effort

Reason Chosen: I have found that my girls have a hard time completing a task at hand.  I know it’s partly developmental, and they’re still very young.  However, I also think there can be improvement on this trait with practice.  I think it’s good to be able to set and accomplish goals by good follow-through. Coming up with the idea is only half the battle.  The harder part is to take it to completion.  Intention only gets you so far.  Abigail is soon going to face this reality with school work, and I want to give her a head start in learning how to finish projects.

Word Ring
At the beginning of each week, the craft will be exactly the same because we will simply be adding a new word to our already established word ring.

Materials Needed
* Stock Card Paper (I had a whole stack like this – found at any craft store)
* Assorted Sticker Letters (I just bought a bunch on clearance at Michael’s)
* Binder Clips (Craft Store)
* Paper Cutter or Scissors
* Hole Punch
The girls chose a paper style they thought would look good with the letters they chose.  We then helped them sound out “diligence.” They took turns finding the letters we needed and sticking them on the paper…they’re kids – the letters will not be stuck on perfect.  I then cut the paper to the same size as the paper from last week. We punched a hole in the corner and stuck it on our binding clip.  Each week, a new word will be added to the clip in similar fashion.  I then wrote the Bible verse on the back.  If your kids are older, have them do it themselves.  We’ll spend this week learning the word, meaning and memorizing the scripture.
