Setting a timer for yourself is a great way to keep your time in check. I know how easy it can be to get caught up in your own work. “I can just get the kitchen done in five minutes.” This involves picking up some stuff that leads you to the office where you see some mail you wanted to sort. Before you know it, the amount of time you had planned to accomplish one simple thing has been dragged out, and your intention to go play with your kids has dwindled into nothing because now it’s lunch time and then nap. Happens to me. Am I the only one? So, set a timer for yourself. Set it for a reasonable amount of time. “I will work for the next 15 minutes, and what I get done, I get done. The rest can wait.” This keep your priorities straight. Every mom with kids out of the house now encourages me to let some of my own expectations for the house go. You’ll have the rest of your life to clean. This time with your kids you won’t get back. In 20 years, no one will regret the messy floor (giving this example while I’m looking around my own kitchen) that didn’t get swept on any particular day.

This is a good idea setting a timer for me. I can relate I may be walking towards the kitchen to do something than I see clothe on the floor that reminds me I need to throw a load in the washer and it goes on.
I am going to try this method.
I really just came up with it recently, and it has been working great.
