Day #114 Tip – Make a Check List for Cleaning

I cleaned the upstairs with my girls today.  A huge task as they tend to trash the place rather quickly despite my urgings.  I have to hold their hands (figuratively) every step of the way, which can be exhausting.  However, when I am with them I try and go through a verbal check list.  When they can read a bit more, I plan to make a physical one. An example for the bedroom might be: 1) Make Bed 2) Clothes off floor and in their proper place (dirty vs. clean) 3) Clean up toys 4) Look under bed for things to be put away 5) Counter tops organized. You can have a quick clean-up list for the basics and longer guides for the full on clean.  These expectations will give your children a check list while giving clear requirements for a job done well.
