· It is easy to loosen up at play dates. You don’t want to have to follow through with your normal consequences wondering if you will be judged by the way you do things, and you tend to question yourself more in front of others. You also may be enjoying your time with your friends and want a break during this time. I would encourage you to keep on the track you’ve started with your child, teaching that behavior at home is expected everywhere you go. You will want to remove the child and not embarrass them in front of other people. However, you can set a great example for other parents on how to handle kids in certain situations. Keeping consistent expectations will be a comfort to your child, even in their current act of disobedience.
