This is as much of a reminder for me as it is a tip for everyone else. We have been slack on it lately, so I need to implement it again. Do you have squirmy kids like I do that want to get up and down from the table at meal time? People tend to be worried about their kids not eating enough or eating too much. I’m more on the side of wanting them to eat a bit more. They could care less about food. Wish I had that problem. So, anything that has caught their attention will cause their little bodies to get down and move away from the table. I have found that eating with them greatly impacts their willingness to eat and whether they stay at the table. They stay there when I am there with them talking and interacting. We generally always have a sit down dinner. However, I use breakfast and lunch time to eat quickly while I’m doing dishes, cleaning up the kitchen or preparing an activity. For a while, I was sitting and eating with them and saw the results. However, I’ve become slack and they have become slack. I need to be disciplined to learn to just be. So, this is the tip I’m giving to myself today.
