Sit on the ground and imagine someone coming over to you and pointing their finger down at you – obviously disappointed or angry. How intimidating would that feel. Your child is going to respond better if you get down at their level. At that level, you can look them in the eye and get their full attention. Being at their level can help keep your tone of voice down and help you remain calm. It will help maintain their focus on what you are saying.
