Obedience
“Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” – Luke 11:28
I often like to start our character development week off with books. We went to the church library and were able to find a couple books on obedience. Books make topics so accessible and really help define the word we are looking at. It builds the knowledge foundation for the rest of the activities we’ll be doing throughout the week. “Parrots, Pirates and Walking the Plank – A book about Obeying” by Mary Hollingsworth and “A Children’s Book about Disobeying,” by Joy Berry in a book series called “Help me be Good,” are the two books we read today.
The book about pirates was OK. It was basically about Jonah and the whale, so you could just read that in your own children’s and make the connection with your kids about that story and obeying. The book called “Disobeying” clearly defines and gives examples of what obeying should look like.
