Week #5 Character Development – Respect, Day #33

Respect
“‘Honor your father and mother’ — which is the first commandment with a promise–’that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.’”
- Ephesians 6:2-3

I have learned, from more than one resource, that men need respect.  As women need unconditional love, men need unconditional respect.  A great series is from the Love and Respect series.  Amazing!  I also have read, “For Women Only,” by Shaunti Christine Feldhahm.  This book and it’s counterpart were huge for us as a couple.  Both are highly recommended when it comes to marriage.  Our verse this week took center stage as we wrote a respect list for my husband.  I remember reading a book about how respect is so important for men, and I sat and wrote a very long list about all the things I respect about my husband.  I randomly write him a respect card highlighting one of those areas.  Since we are studying respect, I decided to bring my girls in on the fun.  I had them brainstorm all the things they respect about their dad.  Then, I wrote some of the list and Abby filled in all the important words on big poster paper.  When we finished, we hung it over his side of the bed as a surprise for when he arrived home.
