Day #10 – Felt Flowers

Don’t let the cuteness of this craft intimidate you.  It’s really easy.
Easy Felt Flowers
Materials Needed:
* Felt
* Scissors
* Skewers
* Needle
* Thread
There are two flowers represented here.  With the first one, you cut a piece of felt to about 9″ x 4″.  You fold the felt in half like a hot dog and start cutting slits about 1/4″ apart on the folded edge.
Next, start rolling up the cut felt.

Finally, I sew the base with simple stitches through the whole felt role.  You could also just tightly wrap the base with tape.  I then stick a skewer in the bottom for the stem.  Abby is holding it by the “stem” in the picture below.

The second flower is a similar method, but you do not need to fold the felt in half.  First, you cut your felt about 9″x2″.  Then, you cut slits along one edge about 1/4″ apart.  Cut another color felt a bit shorter.

Next, your roll the smaller one up and then roll the larger one around it.

Again, you can sew it our tape it at the base and insert a skewer.

I did a couple with some added embellishment – adding jewels in the center of one by wrapping the felt around it, and sewing a little flower, lace embellishment at the center of another.
