· Rather than making a statement about your child saying it wrong, I have read that it’s best to correct grammar by just repeating it back the right way. It could go like this:
Child: “There was two birds on the lawn yestermorning.”
Parent: “You want to say ‘were’ two birds and it’s ‘yesterday.”
It should go like this:
Child: “There was two birds on the lawn yestermorning.”
Parent: “Oh, Really! There were two birds on the lawn yesterday.”
